Frequently Asked Questions

We know you’re thinking it, so we’re here to answer all your lingering questions!

No, we’re not mind readers, these are just the questions everyone asks, so we wanted to beat you to it!

We’ve been on the Pilates teaching scene for a long time, so nothing will surprise us!

Q: What kind of Pilates do you offer?

We have a little something for everyone whether you’re just starting out, coming back from an injury, or ready to amp things up.

Click here for a description of all of our class types.

We’re a studio for those who respect the tradition and love a modern twist.

We honor the original Pilates method while also embracing innovation.

And we’re not afraid to break a few rules to ensure our practice stays relevant and effective for today’s world.

Q: When are classes held?

Sneak a peek at our class schedule here.

You can book classes up to 2 weeks in advance.
Each class becomes available for sign-up exactly 14 days before its scheduled time, on a rolling basis.

As the studio grows, we’ll continue to add on classes.

If you don’t see the class time that you’re hoping for, message us (hello@forthepeoplehq.com) and we’ll see what we can do!

We’re flexible.

Q: Where should I start if I’m a beginner? If I’m experienced?

Our Therapeutic and Principles group classes are perfect for folks brand new to Pilates.

Private sessions are also great options to set a solid foundation for your movement.

Our Therapeutic classes are excellent if you’re coming back from an injury or if it has been a very long time since you’ve exercised.

If you’re experienced, you’ll likely love our Progressions or Power classes.

Don’t sleep on our Principles classes. If you’re moving with good form, you’ll experience plenty of Pilates shakes in this class for all levels!

Q: Where can I sign up?!

We thought you’d never ask!

We cannot wait to be your Pilates home for years to come as you prioritize yourself so that you can show up for the people and causes that matter most to you.

How can I book a class in Momence?

Once you’ve created an account, follow these instructions How to Book a Class. Here’s a quick video in case that’s easier to follow: How to Book a Class.

I’m on the waitlist for a class. How will I know that a spot has opened up for me?

As spaces become available, you’ll be automatically added to class so long as it is at least one hour before the start of class. We’ll send you a text if this happens. If you're on a waitlist and unable to make the class with at least one hours' notice, please remove yourself with 12 hours' notice to respect our cancellation guidelines.

I’m running late for class. What should I do?

If you’re running late for a waitlisted class and someone on the waitlist is already at the studio, your spot will be given to them.

For classes without a waitlist, you’re welcome to join if you can arrive within the first five minutes of class. However, if you’re more than five minutes late, you won’t be able to join. This is to ensure everyone’s safety, as missing the warmup increases the risk of injury, and late arrivals can disrupt the class.

Please do not text or contact us to let us know you’re running late, as instructors cannot check their phones before class. They are focused on assisting students and preparing for the session, so any messages will not be seen.

I need to cancel my class. What should I do?

You can cancel your class via our scheduling app or through the browser. “Your Schedule” is located in the righthand menu on the top of the screen in the browser (click on the circle icon to open the menu). “Bookings” is located on the bottom of the screen in the app.

I couldn’t cancel with 12 hours’ notice. Am I in trouble?

Not at all! Life happens, and that’s why we don’t charge late fees. However, late cancellations or no-shows will result in the loss of that pass. This policy helps us compensate our teachers for their time and dedication. Unfortunately, we can’t make exceptions, including for medical reasons. Thank you for understanding and honoring this policy!

Q: What if I can’t do something the instructor asks me to do?

Y’all. This is seriously one of the most frequent questions we get asked, so please don’t be embarrassed if it crossed your mind too. We were beginners once, and we’ve all seen our fair share of physical therapy. Please ask us for help. When you ask us about Pilates, you give us a chance to not only talk about our favorite thing in the world, but also help you with our favorite solution to all problems…Pilates! Know that being in a body is a shared human experience and that you’ll be in a judgement-free zone.

Q: Speaking of instructors, what are their qualifications?

Our amazing team of instructors are highly qualified and passionate about sharing the practice of mindful movement. Most of our instructors have over 1000 hours of experience teaching, and all of our instructors complete an additional 30 hour certification in the Pilates for the People method. Our method ensures classes are delivered from a trauma-informed lens while staying fun and up-to-date on the latest in movement science. We know that the best students make the best teachers, and we’re always learning so that we can honor the Pilates method. We are so, so passionate about the way that Pilates makes the world a better place, and we’re excited to share everything we know with you!

Q: What should I wear?

Pilates isn’t a fashion show at Pilates for the People, and you don’t have to dress a certain way to “fit in.” Come in clothes that are comfortable that allow you to move. Sometimes we’re upside down or on our hands and knees, so we recommend wearing close fitting bottoms (as a community, we’re close, but not that close!) Grippy socks are also required for class—they help with stability and hygiene—and can be purchased at the studio if you don’t have a pair. Also, if you’d like to strut your fashionista self onto your reformer like its a runway, knock yourself out. We’re here for that too.

How many passes do I have left, and when is my bill date?

High five for staying on top of your classes! We love getting to have you. Log into your account through our app or your browser and click on "My Memberships" under the Memberships tab. From there, you'll be able to see your upcoming billing date as well as how many classes you have left for that billing cycle.

I need to update my billing information. Where should I go to do that securely?

Follow these instructions after logging into your account.

I’d like to make a change to my membership.
